??? DVD Disk Data burning software for XP?

Any Freeware recommendations for this purpose? I have rewritable disks and would like to be able to just copy files to DVD in XP the way you can with CD's.

Thanks!

Do you mean like the drag and drop type of copying that programs like DirectCD and InCD offer, where it acts just like a hard drive until you finalize it, or just free DVD burning software? In the case of the latter option, Imagburn now offers data writing.

Like Drag and Drop, the way XP has it for the right click "Send to..." option for files and folders to burn to a DVD rather than a CD though. You say it supports burning Data as well?

There are a few free programs that have drag and drop features. The one that comes to mind is Deepburner. The program still has to be running in the background anyhow so you might as well use a full featured program like Nero or Nero Lite.

Yep. Imgburn now supports data writing. However, drag and drop like InCD, nope.

This freeware professes to be capable but seems outdated: CDBurnerXP Pro - free burning solution |Home / News Anyone used it?

I was hoping to avoid the iso step after watching my sons Vista Ultimate machine do drag and drop straight up for files/folders onto DVD. (Jealous!)

I used the CDBurnerXP and it worked well, but it didn't support the burner I once bougt and I don't use it since then (three years back maybe). But it seems there will be new version 4.0 according to their announcement. I'll certainly try it when they release it, if it won't take another month/year as usual with CDBXP...

The new CDBurnerXP version 4 was released a few days ago. 3 years since the last release

CDBurnerXP: Introduction and News

I'm downloading it now (only 1.9 MB).

I was reading the supported burners list and my LG DVD Multi's aren't on it, do you think it is still worth a try Roy?

since you have very few options i would give it a shot. the only thing that will happen is it wont work.
the other thing is, if the list is pretty extensive there is a very good chance your burner is on it - just under another name.

Give the Imagburn program I mentioned a try, JL. When you want to create a CD/DVD you use the 'Build' option. Works fine with the LG drives (use that drive, and this program on all the client machines I sell).

Do you have the latest version (4.0.015)? There was some firewall-related bug causing error instead of start in the first v4 release. CDBurnerXP also needs the .NET Framework.
