SpeedGuide.net - TCP Optimizer
Should make appropriate settings for the specified line speed.

Also check the max MTU, and set accordingly.

If it's the Sky Netgear DG834GT router, then it's Admin/Sky for user/Pass, and the MTU is found in the WAN settings. If set lower than the maximum possible MTU, then the setting on the router will dictate the result.

Are you experiencing some specific kind of slowdowns or does the wireless connection just seem constantly slow whether surfing or downloading files? Chances are it's something not related to operating system settings. And on an updated XP system a lot of old system tweaks are completely useless.

I would tend to agree, but being a Sky subscriber I have to find some alternative. I did load some trial software to improve internet performance and it really did help. But I know that the software is really just a bundle of tweaks designed to manipulate all the TCP/IP settings and even the router. I just cannot crack the router, it wont let me..(bloody Sky). If I could get BT I would, honestly if I thought it would improve anything. I have used my laptop everywhere without incident and even hotel broadband was better than Sky. My earliest oppurtunity to get Virgin should improve my problems but here in Red Lodge you only have two choices. This part of the UK is really still back in the 80's when it comes to broadband.

I forgot to mention
SkyUser - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky!

If you have Sky, you need this site, as Sky website is useless as hell - need pop/smtp setup info - forget finding it at Sky's own useless site.
