W98 external drive

Since it might not be possible to install windows 98 to another partition while I have already installed XP and Vista, does anyone know if it is possible to install windows 98 (first edition) to an external usb hard drive?
I have in mind when I want to use w98 to enter the bios and change the boot priority from the internal drives to the usb.
What do you think?

BTW, if this would work, should I install windows 98 the normal way, does the w98 installation sees USB drives, or shall I do this through windows xp?
