I know a lot of you are well educated in all aspects of Windows XP but I have found an excellent site for experts and novices alike. Take a look here

Free RAM should more properly be referred to as useless RAM-- because that is what it is, RAM for which Windows has so far been totally unable to find any use for.
So, IMO first thing he should do on his next update on his OptimizeXP page is to gid rid of the Cacheman. either he wants to remove it from his XP system or not! if he also use it himself.
Another thing is about the Chkdsk exists on this OptimizeXP page-- as one of a step or a tool for OptimizingXP ??
It's probably just me, IMO it's pabably best to let the XP do its own thing, first. if he is using NTFS,
under normal conditions he does not need to run Chkdsk manually.
And also, IMO i think that site is still missing one page-- BackupXP.htm,
reason for this is he has already have 'Chkdsk' and some utilities that removes files / registry and things in Windows.
It's probably just me and my english and i don't read the whole thing on that site.

then i strongly suggest you start learning and to know more about XP.
perhaps starting by getting rid of the Cacheman.

Ridiculous.
|
Code:
WARNING: When Chkdsk detects problems with the file system and attempts to repair the damage, data loss can occur. Microsoft does not recommend running Chkdsk with the /f command-line switch unless you have a full backup of your hard disk.
also, you just cannot rely on the undo function of those programs.
it remains vitally important that you protect mission-critical data by performing periodic backups. even better if you can have or perform a complete backup of your system.
