SpaceTrash is on a distinguished road

ati2vag Driver has stopped working

Howdy all, I've been through the gauntlet with Microsoft as well as ATI and I'm as lost as I was when I started. My puter is about 14 months old and I'm getting error messages like:"VPU RECOVER has reset your graphics accellerator as it was no longer responding to graphic driver commands."......and: "The ati2vag display driver has stopped working." I've tried to update drivers with zero success. I got so pissed I did a complete system restore with the factory discs and nothing changed. Is the card dying or what? I tried to find some diagnostic tools on the internet but they all want cash, like $50 to $30 dollars. Is there a way I can fix this without buying software? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx, SpaceTrash

Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!

First of all, the symptoms sound like the motherboard chipset drivers are not installed correctly. What seems to be at fault is the AGP bus.

However, you don't say which video card you actually have installed. So, let's start with you giving us a rundown on exactly what is included in your computer from the CPU right on down to the RAM. Be as detailed as possible.

In the meantime, do two things:

1. Check online for a BIOS update for your motherboard. Follow all instructions for updating the BIOS.

2. Check for updated Chipset drivers for the motherboard. These will be found on the manufacturer's website, too.

Good luck!
