Can't Install Windows On Notebook, Keeps Shutting Down?

I just got this Fujitsu Lifebook A series notebook from my cousin (free)
And it just wont install windows at all, it'll shut down while installing
And sometimes it'll say that it can't copy a file, tried a few cds and same files can't be copied either

I've tried the Dos way with Smartdrv and same thing, help please

System Specs

i had a compaq do that, it would get so far then just shut off.
in my case the main system fan had given out and it was overheating and shutting down, so you might want to look into cooling, make sure all is working right

Yes, certainly a hardware problem, perhaps the DVD drive is failing.

Idea one. . .go into notebook BIOS and disable ALL unneeded hardware (USB, COM, LPT, LAN, 1394, WiFi, sound, whatever it will allow), and try the install again.

Idea two. . .boot from a different CD and run chkdsk.exe to look for disk errors.

Last resort. . .pick up a notebook IDE adapter, hook the notebook drive to another system, create a 700MB partition, and copy the installation CD to that partition. Install from HD instead of CD.
