i feel like a dunce, but how do you find the TOTAL files/folders on your system?

topic says it all...

Use an AV scan...........It will tell you how many files are on the drive you are scanning

you can use Windows Explorer to display the Properties of the selected files and folders,
just make sure that all the files/folders will be selected (configure the Explorer to show all hidden and protected files/folders via Tools menu-> Folder Options). go to root of drive, in the root folder select all (Ctrl+A) visible files/folders and then display the properties of these selected files/folders via R-click context menu (or ALT+Enter keys), Windows displays the total files/folders count in the properties applet...
get the properties of the selected files and folders of each drive (partition), then add all files/folders counts together...
