APC Personal Battery Backup UPS

So I just picked up a small battery backup and it comes with APC Powerchute software

Does vista manage this kind of stuff better than this software or what?

GOing home soon to install the battery backup itself but I dunno... I like NOT having a lot of software running on my PC

I just let Vista take care of mine w/ no issues. However, the software does feature some interesting information when you use it. Like watts used, and so fourth.

don't bother installing it unless you want to check out the extra features of it.. which is typically "oh this is neato" and then you never use them again leaving the tasks taking up unnessary resources (although minimal)..

just let windows vista run it

Agreed, don't bother. I bought a Back-UPS 1300, and it has an LCD. I don't need that information as it's all displayed right on the unit. All I had to do was tell Vista what to do when the battery gets low.

well I tried both ways. I'm going to keep powerchute since I like having info like "how many times my electricity goes bad" type of things.

and a few megs of memory doesn't affect me at all... vista just doesn't have the info I like to have !
