Mr cairo will become famous soon enough

Seem to have solved my vista issues

*fingers crossed*

basically i was suffering from BSOD , random lockups , hard locks forcing a power off and no matter what i did i couldnt sort it , it was a very frustrating 3 months

3 days ago i pulled the soundcard and went with the onboard drivers and sound

so far not 1 issue in 3 days machine seems very stable .... in fact its been a real pleasure to use

seems that my setup did not like the creative card

just hope this isnt a fluke

I've actually read that a lot of people are having problems with Creative cards under Vista. And, yes, please do post the model you were using.

pepiman is an unknown quantity at this point
System Specs

Creative Audigy 2 (plain) PCI

I didn't even bother keeping it for my new computer when I upgraded... I read wayyyy too many bad things about Creative + Vista

I run realtek HD on my onboard. It sounds just as good as the Soundblaster live 5.1 i had in my XP system. I only use sound for headphones so not like i need huge power. Though i have heard good things about the new creative cards that give you surround sound with only headphones on.

i have a creative xfi & the creative problems are one of the reasons i have not installed my copy of ultimate yet. laziness & waiting for sp1 & a few other small possible compatibilty issues are the rest of it.
though sp3 for xp is looking interesting.

I guess I am lucky. Vista home premium and soundblaster Xi-Fi Fatal1ty. Zero problems, first with the Vista drivers, then with some beta drivers from Creative. No problems doing everyday things, no problems in games, etc.
