Lexmark Z53 Driver

Hi,

I just installed Windows Vista Business on my computer. But I guess Lexmark doesn't make a driver for my printer (a Z53). It doesn't plan on making one, either, according to a Lexmark representative. The closest I could find in the Add Printer box was the Z52. I tried that driver, but the test page wouldn't print. I also tried the Windows XP/Server 2003 Z53 driver from Lexmark's web site and that didn't work, either. Does any one have any ideas? Thank you for any help.

Nevermind. Sorry. I think the XP drivers work. I was configuring the printer to use an LPT port. Now I'm using a USB one. So it prints, but the printer icon won't disappear from the System Tray. It says that 2 documents are pending, but when I look in the queue, I don't see any.

Yeah, I tried the XP driver for my X83. Vista simply refuses to allow it to install.

At least you have yours working.

Hi Macaw54 - I have the same Z53 printer and can't get it to work with Vista. How did you do it? Which driver did you use: Custom, System or XP/Win2003? Thanks.

The custom driver does not work but the system driver works fine.
