Problem installing Vista :(

Operating System: Vista Ultimate

CPU (Processor): AMD 64 3000

Motherboard: Chaintech VNF3-250

RAM: 1GB (2 x 512mb, ddr 400 i think)

Graphics Card/s Installed: currently a PCI Radeon 9100 64mb

Hard Drive/s and Type/s Installed: 60 gig HD

Description of Problem:

hello

i recently tried installing vista on my comp which has an amd 64 3000

i first booted it through the cd and got a blue screen error after a loading screen. i then downloaded an update from the amd site (AMD Athlon™ 64/FX Processor Utilities & Updates - AMD Athlon™ 64/FX Processor Driver Version 1.3.2.0053 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (x86 and x64))

I then booted from the cd again and things worked fine and i formatted my pc and it continued to go through the installation process. But as it was doing its restart right after the installation screen my computer would keep getting to the small loading bar thing for vista and it would keep getting stuck.

i even tried booting again from the cd to try reinstall it but that same original blue screen error would pop up.

i am assuming i would need the update again to fix this problem since my computer was formatted.

so my question is how would i get the update back onto my computer? or better yet how would i finish my installation?!!

thanks

i don't know, but i think your hardware is kinda outdated for Vista, may be.
try installing XP back on the computer, and then try running this tool and see if it helps...

System Specs

You shouldn't need the Cool 'n Quiet driver, it's for Windows XP, Vista has the necessary drivers included with it.

The problem you're having likely has no relation with the Cool 'n Quiet driver from the AMD site.

The problem is probably with your NFORCE 3 chipset - it's not supported by nvidia in vista anymore...
There is no sollution for this (some users managed to install fine in vista, but only with nvidia gpu's - the problem is the gart and memory controller).
You could try to download unofficial package from nforcehq.com's forums and try it...
