You might want to start w/ it on a lesser computer than your main gaming system. So I might even recommend using an OEM copy. Just look at it this way if it passes your families abuse it should be fine in your baby.

i probably abuse my Vista OEM alot, may be more than anyone else, lol, and as far as i am concern, the home premium OEM is fine, i did a check on the things that are different in the ultimate and business edition's it seemed i won't be needed them, then i found, the overall, the home premium OEM works just fine for its price. but as your needs can be different, check them out first if you can.

I see Home Premium + a free tube of thermal paste at the place you won't order from for $110+shipping.

I'm thinking of getting Vista too. I got an HD enclosure from a friend and installed a Raptor 74GB in it and connected it via e-SATA. I was thinking of keeping my XP install as my main OS and then booting from the external drive into Vista when i want to fool around with it, until Windows 7
There's no way i can justify 600$ for Ultimate, so i decided on Home Premium. Don't need drive encryption and the couple of other extras, however wasn't there something for gamers in Ultimate?
I was also thinking of going 64bit. Have any of you ever thought of doing this: Vista 64bit with 4 gigs of ram and then VirtualPCing XP?

for the home premium, if you acquired it via retail purchase (boxed product) you can also order the Vista Alternate Media, the 64-bit DVD, later if you first buy the 32-bit edition.
