OK, i have Windows Vista Ultimate Edition . When i boot it doesnt boot like XP did and just go into windows, it sits on a sceen for 10 seconds and asks me if i want to boot from a previous version of windows or Windows vista. Its as simple as hittin "Enter" but it drives me nuts!!!..Also i keep having some issues with com.exe ending with an error, but it didnt give me a code, seems to happen when im using alot of Network Traffic. Thanks for any help in advance, probably should just wait for service pack one before i bought it.

Scroll up to the Vista tricks and download Vistaboot software. That will allow you to fix your boot issues. I assume you are dual booting Windows XP and Vista.
Ummm... as far as your com.exe problem - you have a trojan. Try Googling com.exe and you'll see. I don't believe a service pack would have helped in either case, the boot is working as it should - you have two OS's and it's giving you a chance to select from either. The trojan is likely being hosed by Vista's protection and generating an error.

The yellowish load bar is like the one in XP where it had the Windows XP screen and bar. They just didn't write Vista on it or anything. It should disappear and be replaced with a login screen. If not, you've got a problem.

Hmmm... your system actually looks more powerful then mine, and I can't really see any reason (so far) for me to go back to XP. It could be the extra gig of RAM I have, hard to say. I'm certainly not finding it any slower than XP.

I still only have one gig and the system takes up over 60% of RAM when I have nothing loaded except antivirus software (using Ultimate x64). On the machines I have installed for people the 2 gigs of RAM really helps a lot, so I always recommend 2 gigs as a rule. If you're playing some heftly games and working with large graphics files etc. you may want to add even more. |
