ADSL speedtouch 330
Hello.
well, I have a problem: I have Vista in my laptop and want to connect to the internet. There are no drivers for Vista of my SpeedTouch 330. So I installed the drivers I have. The installation had no problems. So I used the app that came with the drivers to trie to connect to the internet. I put the username and pass and click "connect"....it takes a while but in the end it shows the log and a error message that is something like this "the remote computer did not respond". I tried the windows "new connection wizard", but still i had no success. I suppose the problem is in the drivers. Can anybody help me?

after a long time working on it i have now managed to use the internet using my speed touch 330 and vista 5600 ultimatewhat i done was download the intall from speedtouch for the xp 64bit(r4.0.0.5),using dual boot, then try to install speed touch saying 0-38 for britain but then it hangs and fails when searching for speedtouch 330 modem, then i cancelled installation, then goto c: program files/thomson speedtouch/st330/drivers/x64/st330 and copy and paste all files to desktop should be ipwdm.sys,st330,st330.sys,st330 64 stbus.sys then i opened and edited st 330(second from the bottom was a line saying"instdisk=st330 installation disk" i deleted that and saved itthen i went to device manager and right clicked speedtouch 330 and update driver, then browse to best driver(desktop) and it installed fine,i had a bit of trouble first of all with it connecting but not allowing my user name and pass word but after i rebooted my computer i could connect straight away by going to connect to and then picking speed touch 330 conection,,,,,,,i cant remember what setting i said when first intalling the speed touch software but i know i picked 0-38 i maybe the next question was the second choice downi hope this makes senseif you want to contact me please do

I have installed the driver the way you have stated on Windows Vista x64 build: 6000.
Both lights on my modem are now green and in the thomsom diagnostics it shows that my adsl modem is connected via usb and the dsl line is scrynoized... Yet when i try to make a internet connection to connect to the internet now, the only option is PPPoE ... yet I need PPPoA !!! I have searched and searched and cannot work this out. The adsl modem is displayed as an 'USB' device in the device manager ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You |

I was also battling with this last night for a couple of hours with Vista Business edition. After installing the modem drivers the lights were on but it would not connect to the internet. After installing the Alcatel network drivers, I got the BSOD and had to restart in safe mode to uninstall them.
I am just going to give up on the 330 as it is a buggy piece of hardware and even caused problems in XP and go for a new router/ modem instead. |

How to get Thomson SpeedTouch 330 to work in Windows Vista (build 6000)
My ISP is eclipse but should work with others as well.
Go to http://speedtouch.com/support.htm and download the drivers for Win XP 64-bit (R4.0.0.5) Disconnect the modem from your computer. Install these drivers as Administrator and choose the correct settings (VPI/VCI 0.38 for Eclipse / TalkTalk). When promted, insert the modem into the USB connection and let it finish. Then go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Click Connections, Create a new connection by clicking Add (under Dial-up and Virtual Private network settings). Click on Show connection options that this computer is not set up to use. When the Dial-up option appears, select it. Enter the VPI/VCI value in the phone number box (0,38 for eclipse and TalkTalk), Then enter your username and password that you got from your ISP. Click create and you should get a message saying that your connection is ready. If not, check that the driver is installed properly. Click the Start menu and enter regedit and press enter. Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters directory and create a new key that you name "DisabledComponents" enter it and right click the default, change the value to 20. Exit regedit and reboot. Then click Start menu, Connect To, and Choose Dial-Up and Voila If there is a red cross next to the Dial-Up option, right click and enter properties, in the "Connect Using, disable everything except your ADSL modem, check that your VPI/VCI value is entered in the "phone number" box and click OK, Click cancel again. Open the Connect To again and now the Dial-Up option should be ready to use. Good Luck! Andreas |

I have tried that, but now I have another problem. Everytime I try to connect now, the username or password is incorrect and it will not go any further than there !!
any ideas :o my username and password is correct and the vpi/vci is correct - 0,38 for Pipex. Even tried it with just 0 as the dial up number, but no luck. At this time, my adsl speedtouch modem is under USB devices in the Device manager, and then I have Speedtouch PPP adapter under network devices .. that adapter is what I opted to use to connect to the internet. |

I was recently installing a 330 on a new Dell Vista PC. OneTel told me there were no 330 drivers for Vista for several months. I found some XP drivers in the registered area of Tiscali.co.uk. I downloaded them and installed the modem reasonably successfully, without any messing about with parameters. It worked though only on second attempt - first time it failed, then type in password and it worked. Onetel then asked me where I found the solution.
That was fine for 2-3 weeks then OneTel started to have e-mail server problems and it has not worked since. This is not on my own PC, but one I have sourced for a 78 year old lady! She just wants it to work. OneTel are now telling her she needs a router. I called Onetel tech support last night to clarify things. Totally useless of course, but they confirmed that the modem would never work with Vista despite it having done so. This morning the lady e-mailed me to say her modem was up and running again. I've just been sent a link to a new vista driver by speedtouch, but when I try to install it, it hangs at 57%. After several hours wait (just in case it was a long process) I find I then can't uninstall! Has anyone had similar experience?

The Vista drivers for ST330 USB can be found here:
http://www.thomson.net/EN/Home/MiniS...upport.htm#usb If you're not from United Kingdom do not download UK version, download the generic version. I recommend this link: Download Generic Version of ST330/USB MS Windows Vista CD here. It's an ISO image that have 248 Mb. You can burn it on CD or use Daemon Tools. If the connection wizard doesn't work (this was also my case) create manually a connection: Windows <START> -> <Connect to> -> <Set up a connection or network> -> <Connect to Internet> and chose the type of connection that require a username and a password etc. |

get a better adsl modem man those USB modems are shite heh
pardon the pun but i use to have one ages ago and it doesnt take a lot of effort to max out the USB bus useing that modem .... if your download speeds are over 8meg or 8meg exactly then your max speed will throttle the usb port, you will notice this becuse the USB light on the modem will go from green to no light at all when your throttleing it. you would be best off getting a gatewat the Linksys adsl+2 with 4 port switch, best modem i have bought and its cheap. also fully xboxlive open nat compatible ![]() also you never have to logout and login ever again your connection is always Live and active ![]() you just enter your username and password and isp details into the modems controll pannel and thats it never touch it again heh
