Windows Vista DirectX 9 Benchmarks

As most of you know, the 5308 build of the Vista beta is out.

Ever since Vista has been in beta I have yet to see ANY benchmarks on the OS, so I took the liberty to do it myself.

I got the new Readeon drivers for my X1900XTX from ATI.

here are my system specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (2.4 Ghz, 512 KB cache)
Radeon X1900XTX
Asus A8R-MVP
1 GB PC4800 DDR SDRAM (OCZ Platinum Elite)
160 GB WD Sata

My benchmarks are as follows. Vsync was turned off in all thesetest to get the real framerate readings. I know that Windows Vista is still in Bea form, but I have never seen s much improvement in a product from Beta to Release that would make up for these score differences.

HL2:Counter Strike Source Video Stress test
(at 1280x1024, AA 6x, AF 16x, All settings high)

Windows XP: 181 Fps Average
Windows Vista: 91 Fps Average

F.E.A.R Stress Test
(1280x960, AA 4x, AF 16x)

Windows XP
Hi:159
Average:63
Low:32

Windows Vista
Hi:79
Average:41
Low:19

I won't be alarmed by that until the OS is released (Now bumped to Jan 07!), and non-Beta drivers are available.

MS has always had to fix things after the real Beta testers (JQ Public) get a hold of a program. I am not suprised to see it pushed back either. It is a big unwieldly project. I will wait for the 2nd or 3rd month of retail sales to buy it, then I can download all the latest fixes.

System Specs

xp x64 preforms roughly 10% slower then xp x32..... when a x64 native 3d program however is used.... xp x64 runs quite a noticeable amount better/faster/stable.

Ut2004 x64
Halflife 2 x64

as examples

IMO, being both beta, and vista going to be natively x64 (with a downgraded x32 counterpart)...... i both expect an initial slower result because of running 32bit apps on a x64 system, and that it's beta and running quite poorly then the finished fined tuned results...

um you realise it in BETA, that mean it loaded to the
huilt with debuggers, etc... so you can't really test
right now. AS i will not be indicated AT ALL of the
final product...

hice there been no testing
