Issues installing drivers with Catalyst Install Manager for HD2400PRO PCIe
Hi there! I've just assembled my HTPC, and it's now running on a Windows Vista x32 operation system. The install of Vista went smoothly, until i was to install the drivers for my ATi products (both for my graphics card and chipset). I'm used to nVidia cards and older ATi cards, so the Vista implementation of CIM is new to me.
After installing the windows updates, i decided to install the motherboard and graphics card drivers, which for one used to be a simple thing. I visited AMD's Radeon driver download page, and downloaded the Vista x32 version drivers. Everything looked as it used to do, with the only difference being CMI opening as soon as i clicked on the driver icon. It seems as if CIM has some trouble finding my card (HD2400PRO, PCIe), plus it looks like it is installing an old version of the chipset drivers (1.0? Should be 7.3 according to ABIT. See picture) A picture of the content which CIM displays after clicking the drivers icon (Note: HD2400PRO drivers missing and the outdated version number of the chipset drivers) ![]() I have also tested the included CD drivers from ASUS, which actually worked great. But i would rather avoid using these drivers, and download the most up to date drivers from the internet. Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!
Have you tried to just download the display driver? You can get it here : AMD GAME! Drivers and Utilities |

Hi, thanks for the welcome!
Now i have, but sadly the problem still remains. CIM now displays the drivers for ATI Catalyst Control Center manager and Microsoft Visual C++, but the drivers for the HD2400PRO is still missing. Well, i installed Catalyst Control Center, just too see how the report would turn out, and the graphics card is even missing from the "Other devices" column, which for one actually displays the integrated chipset (ATI RADEON XPRESS 1200 Series). I have disabled the integrated graphics in BIOS. Last edited by Chrilee; Jan 19, 2008 at 11:42 AM. |

Hmm... That is weird. Did the updates include the Microsoft driver for the HD2400Pro?

Yes, indeed. The Windows Update did include an "recommended" update for the card, but i decided to download them from AMD's homepage instead.
Alright, i just reformated the HTPC and installed Windows XP x32, just to see how this operating system would handle the card. After downloading the drivers i was actually able to install the latest drivers smoothly, the card was found. Obviously this has something to do with Vista or Catalyst Install Manager, right? So, is it possible to install a radeon driver in Vista without using CIM? Last edited by Chrilee; Jan 19, 2008 at 09:01 PM. |
