Does CCC show "PC Standard" or "MCE" being set as the default? I find the MCE selection provides normal display brightness in Vista 32.

Try toggling the selection.
That did the trick mate in vista 64. Picture on screen is crisp and clear again.
Thanks for the tip.

That makes me anger, I looked at that screen a dozen times and never noticed the options to scroll down. GRRRRR !!

That fixed the problem !!

Is it just a bit toggle in the driver install on why Vista64 went to PC standard and Vista32 went to MCE ?

Yeah just a messed up registry value on the Vista X64 driver unfortunately, there are a few other issues to resolve with the new black and white levels too, mainly revolving around it not working correctly or at all for crossfire users, but ATI are aware of them and are looking into it.

As for the people not being able to use certain resolutions in this set, I belive thats covered in one of the known issues in the release notes.

cuke2u is an unknown quantity at this point

Hi, I'm using the 7.5 on two systems, one has Vista Ultimate and one has home premium, both are 32bit. However on the Ultimate it ticked PC Standard yet on the home premium it ticked MCE. Seems like a bit of a lottery...

The colour issue just isn't Vista X64 specific, it also happens in the 32bit version.
Just as cuke2u describes.

Though thats the least of my worries right now. My biggest gripe since installing the Catalyst 7.5 set on Vista Ultimate 32bit is, its been blue screening my system since they were installed (Or should I say blue screens only at system bootup). Thats with two X1950XTX's, Crossfire checkbox was never checked and as soon as it tries to boot up blue screen loops about page faults. Just before the Vista orb loads.

7.5's installed fine for me, as always. I did have the annoying color problem which was easily fixed with the "PC Standard" or "MCE" selection.

What I'm REALLY pissed off with is the fact since the 7.2's ... I can NOT play a single game without it stopping/blacking out every 30 seconds, or completely crashing. I'm sure we are all familiar with the "ATIKMDAG.SYS has stopped responding" error.

The ONLY fix I've found for this is ATI Tool, and using it to set the fan speed to 100%. Then and only then can I game without a single problem. Why I need to use a third party program to keep my card running properly is beyond me. ATI can't figure out how to access and control their own hardware in vista? Meanwhile a third party software provider can? Not only is that ridiculous, it's NOT acceptable. ATI has been seriously slacking off, and instead of addressing issues such as this, as well as others, they decide to release yet another "Tweaked" set for people to play with...

I know it's not my card, works perfect under XP. I know it's not my install of vista, since I can duplicate the issue on a fresh install of either vista x32 or x64. I know it's not a hardware conflict, since I've stripped down a system to just the basics, and it still happens. I know it is directly related to the driver, and the thermal state of the GPU since my fan NEVER spins up as the GPU heats up. I also know the card DOESN'T lock up or throw an error if I can keep the GPU temp down enough to not trigger the "switch" in the drivers that control the fan speeds. (Usually around 45c prevents the drivers from "trying" to up the fan speed.. but that is only my experience, yours may differ). I know I'm sick and tired of opening up a ticket with ATI just to have them close it with the repeated generic response of "we are aware of the problem and are working on it".

They have been aware of the issue since the 7.2's, I know, I've been submitting trouble tickets since then, and we are already up to the 7.5's and the same issues still exists.

If ATI wants to "tweak" anything, then ADD the ability to set the fan speed manually under the Graphic options or OVERDRIVE section until the automatic handling of the fan/hardware is FIXED! Maybe they should consult the authors of ATI tool on how to fix it. Then again, since being bought by AMD, this is exactly what people should expect now...

Yeah been there Th3_VVr41th, with the display driver stop responding when exiting a game or a complete system lock after exiting a game.

So looks like I had to do a new install of Vista due to these 7.5 drivers. I think its so bad when drivers render your OS incredibly unstable at bootup. Endless blue screen loops, win32k.sys and page faults since installing them. Even when they were uninstalled it had done something so bad to Vista that the same problems were still there.

Now the clean install is working as it should, but I won't be installing 7.5 after all this. So much infuriating troubles with these. Currently using the built in Vista drivers until I know this same problem will not happen again.

I appreciate it takes a lot of time to get working stable drivers, but after 5 months/5 releases and things like this happen, it makes me really wonder. 2 driver releases that blue screen my system and one that causes screen corruption such as 7.4. It feels its getting worse than it is getting better.

Sad Same here

I have an issue with my CCC. After installing 7.5 CCC keeps crashing. I get the following information:

Description:
Stopped working

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01: ccc.exe
Problem Signature 02: 2.0.0.0
Problem Signature 03: 451d264f
Problem Signature 04: CLI.Component.Runtime
Problem Signature 05: 2.0.2693.36852
Problem Signature 06: 464d0138
Problem Signature 07: cb
Problem Signature 08: 6
Problem Signature 09: System.NullReferenceException
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.4
Locale ID: 1031

Restarting does not correct the problem. It just crashes again almost immediately.

This is a Crossfired X1900 XTX system on a Xpress 3200 chipset (Motherboard A8R32 MVP Deluxe) with an AMD X2 4800+ running Vista Enterprise 64 bit.

Need help plz..

I'm having a problem with the driver. Vista simply doesn't accept it.

My computer:

The problem:

I know my PC is old, but I really want to get games running like it used to run. I want at least a higher resolution, but with generic drivers I can't get anything.
Using Catalyst 7.5 and already tried older versions. Please help me, it's urgent!

System Specs

Hello Ruby Moon, and welcome to DriverHeaven.net

A Code 43 means that "One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner"

It sounds like a hardware problem, perhaps from AGP Clock speed timings, or overheating. OR....you may simply need to update your BIOS. Consult AsusTek for your system board's newest BIOS. In this case, it looks like you should look up the newest BIOS for the Asus P4P800-E motherboard.

According to the Asus Support site, your motherboard "P4P800-E Deluxe"'s newest BIOS is version 1009 dated 2005/09/26

There is a newer "beta" BIOS version 1010.001, which may work better, but because it is a beta version, there's a chance it could cause problems.

Aside from that, try to rule out the simple things, like the card being seated properly in the slot, dust, broken fan....etc. Also try a clean install of the Catalyst 7.5 drivers.

To clean install the drivers, goto ati.amd.com, search for "737-1447" or "Catalyst Uninstaller". Run the program, restart your computer and then run the Catalyst 7.5 install program again.

Best of luck, take care.

I wanted to add one additional comment on the 7.5's

When I DL drivers for harware that I have, I expect to get drivers, not software bloated with additional crap promoting free games and such. Leave that for a separate DL if the user wishes...

ATI has forgotten the "Kiss" rule of thumb (Keep It Simple Stupid) and just keeps making things worse.

ATI has definitely gone above and beyond the term "selling out"...

Radeon Xpress 1150

I have a Acer Ferrari 1000 it has built in graphics (Radeon Xpress 1150) everything works ok, except for one program, it is a client software for watching security cameras, when i click on the program the software attempts to load but never does, you can even see it in the system process's, the only way it works when i completly uninstalled the ati software and do a restart and wait for windows graphics to install, the software then works ok, but my laptop then frezzes when the CCC is not installed.

I have seen it work on other vista laptops without a problem, if someone could help it would be brill.

Well it seems my looping BSOD ticket for Crossfire has been marked as resolved. \o/

Here's hoping it'll be in the next release. I just hope no more BSOD issues repeat themself in the future. As this was an extremely nasty one for me.

I'm in a computer club where most of the members have migrated to Vista and everyone of the ATI owners is going to or has already replace their ATI cards with spanking new Nvidia cards, not because the cards are bad but simply because the driver support effectively turns their ATI cards into just so much useless junk.

I just wished ATI got the drivers working properly with Vista first instead of constantly adding new features and get speed increases. It's running before you can walk and it will bite them in the bum in the end, you mark my words!

Another thing the CAT team did once was listen to people. Seems not anymore otherwise many of the issues would have been looked at.

I've been a ATI fanboy for many years and it herts me to say it, but I'll not be singing their praises anymore. I've spent far too much money with ATI and got nothing in return to carry on being conned.

A year ago, my local store stopped selling ATI cards. I questioned them over this and they told me the reason was that ATI's products are not as good as the competitions (not to be rude - words to that effect). I argued with them until I was blue in the face. But they knew then what I have learnt the hard way. Hell, I even paid stupid money getting one of the first crossfire cards imported to me from the states.

Well not anymore. I've been ignored long enough. How many forums do you have to post on, how many reports do you have to submit to ATI before they actually listen?

It wasn't always the case. I was most impressed with Terry Makedon and his team when they started out producing monthly driver updates. In those days, Terry did listen, he did correct odd little issues I had. But it seems the sparkle has gone. I don't know if this is just complacency or the fact that AMD bought them out. But they don't listen anymore.

ATI broke my demoscene fun! (and they ain't interested in fixing it for us!)

rant over!

Hi Caretaker, long time no talk! How you been?

Hey nothing has changed on my end, not to make excuses but I am not aware of any of the issues you are facing. I do listen when I am aware of things, and this thread is the first time I am hearing about demo problems. If you still have my email feel free to contact me with a list of issues, and if you dont have my email feel free to send me a PM here on DH.

Thank you Terry. I have sent you a PM with a list of my issues with links to posts I have made. I hope you are able to spot what is going wrong.

Sorry if my rant seemed a bit negative but they have banned smoking in the UK and I am trying to do my best to kick the habit. I posted that at 2.28am GMT - another sleepless night!
