Vista + ATI drivers?

I'm running Vista with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro that I just got on ebay "brand new". Is anyone having problems with the drivers? My system crashes with any newer games. Conveniently enough... No errors have been logged since like the 27th, i.e, the blue screen errors (which was garbled to read, and went away after about 10 seconds) are logged.... It's not promising though. I've tested 7.2, 7.1, and the default microsoft ATI Radeon 9800 Pro WDDM drivers that auto install when the card is detected.. I'm actually able to load Chess Titans (or any other new 3D-related app) for a few seconds, but then I got the blue screen once, or everything just instantly stops. No more functionality from anything (keyboard, mouse, etc.)

The 9800 Pro really does look brand new though... Although I'm finally beginning to realize why it was on ebay to begin with... I just want to be sure that it isn't a software problem before I leave feedback.

System Specs:
Windows Vista Business
1GB Ram
ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128

You'd think since Aero runs so smoothly, that games would too... right? /shrug

Okay so I gave up last night, and just stuck with the 7.1 drivers which were the last I tested... Only to find this morning that everything is working fine now.. o_O

How is that even possible? I was blue screening like crazy yesterday, but today my computer finally is like, "Hey 7.1's, let's be bff's!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3"

My comp actually works decent now... /glares at 9200 SE in trash.
