CCC won't start under Vista 64-bit
It's just like the title says. I can't get the CCC to come up no matter how I try to start it. Desktop context menu, start menu shortcut, opening the .exe, nothing. This is a fresh install of Vista H.P. 64-bit. The one time I did get it to work was when I double clicked the ATI tray icon, but I disabled the icon as I've always have because I thought everything was fine. Now, CCC won't start, I can't get the icon back since CCC doesn't start and the setting for the icon is no longer in the registry, or at least in a different place.
Anyone know how to possibly fix the CCC or at least how to get the tray icon back? I've tried reinstalling the Cats and cleaning with DC.net, but the tray icon STILL doesn't come back Help!

You could try the Control Panel instead:
ATI RADEON X2800 X1950 X1900 X1650 NVIDIA GeForce 8800 7950 7900 7600 - NGOHQ.com Good place for that. |

It seems that controll center is working for me now, and I have not done anything special... Weird! However thanks for your tip. I will try that if I get this problem again!

I've had this issue before, usually related to either A: bad download B: bad install.
usually a full uninstall, redownload and install will fix it.

Glad it is working. Sometimes a reboot or two is what is needed. Windows can be kind of nutty sometimes.
Happy gaming!

Well, its back again!
For some reason It only worked for 2 reboots and now I am having the same problem again! I tried to install Ati tool but vista says the drivers have to be signed and they're not! This is no fun!

I have exactly the same problem. Windows vista 64bit home premium with a RADEON X1950 XTX.
I do this: Clean vista install -> install catalyst drivers (installation goes without problems) -> reboot -> Catalyst control center refuses to load nor does there appear an icon in the systray. When looking in the task manager it does appear they are trying to load but nothing shows up on screen :/ I have tried 7.1, 7.2beta, 7.2 but no ccc starting. Tried every install on a clean Vista install but no worky worky. Also tried removing .net3 which didnt do anything, nor did removing .net3 and installing .net1, or having them both installed. Again, every time on a clean vista install to minimize driver leftovers or other weird stuff. I have heared trying to import cccc.reg to the registry could fix it, but for me it did not. So! Who knows a fix for this? How do I get back the CCC? I would love to change settings again

I have the same problem exactly with XP. I have had some sucess using the "restart runtime" app - that seems to get it going.

Alright, it seems to be working now that I figured out how to restore the Ati tray icoin. Hoever I'm a little scared to turn off the tray icon to test it with the 7.2 Cat's because it's a little tough to make it come back. I think it's a bug with .net 3 since it only started since I installed .net 3 on my XP 64-bit, and since Vista already comes with .net 3 it's always had the problem.
So, yeah, if you can make your tray icon come back in the registry, you can load CCC again. I've reported the bug to the Catalyst Crew already, so that's done. Please, Ray, enable the CF AA modes so I can kiss CCC goodbye!
