Cool! Nvidia Omega Drivers v1.169.25 for Windows Vista

Honey, I'm home!!!
I'm back, been busy, read my front page, enjoy the new site, need... to... catch.. breath...

What's New in Omega Drivers?
v1.169.25

* Based on the Forceware 169.25 Official drivers.
+ Added resolutions not available on normal drivers and tweaked some that where.
* Added D3D/OGL tweaks.
+ My first Omega Drivers release for Windows Vista.

Known Issues:
Since this is my first nvidia driver's release for Vista and I have been working hard on the website, some features will not be available at the moment, like for example, laptop support, yeah, sorry, but I had to cut something out in order to make the release on time with the new website. Don't worry thou, laptop support will be added on next release for sure or in a possible re-release of the 169.25 drivers, that will depend on how fast nvidia releases their next WHQL set.

Get them here.

Enjoy!

UPDATE 01/07/08:
Use this same thread for the new 64bit release, thanks.

Ditto, x64 is where it's at. I'd be willing to F8 at every boot for Omega drivers.

Will load them tonight... though i am using the nvidia 169.28s right now. FYI Omega since it has been a while for you with nvidia, laptopvideo2go.com usually has the latest drivers and are quick to get the newest ones up in case you where intrested in a source. I tend to watch them for my laptop but use main stream for the desktop.

You guys aren't the only ones waitin' on the x64 set (if there's going to be one). I've been checking Omega's site about twice a month, in hopes that there'd be some kind of revival. This is good news. . . Very good news. Now, we just need him to get back into the swing of things. :-D

I made my own 169.28 x64 version with copy-pasting the .inf tweaks.

Tested these on a Q6600 clocked @ 3ghz, 2gig ram 8800GT and vista business 32.

Found that these gimme worse performance that wat I was using b4 (169.25 betas) I also tried the whql versions but those also seem to gimme worse performance. The game I tested is COD4 and with identical settings I can actually detect a lower frame rate (with my eyes, that the frame rate is dropping below smooth) with the omegas and whql version over the betas. What gives?

Omega's drivers, from what i've always been led to believe, are not benchmark drivers.

Omega's goal with his drivers is to provide the best, optimal balance between performance and quality rather than straight up LEET FPS.

If you notice his tweaks, some are to up the image quality which, by default, will hurt performance, but are only applied if he feels that the improvement to quality is more than justified by the performance hit you would take.

Omega's drivers activate all image quality enhancers that provide minimal hits to your performance and all performance enhancers that provide minimal hits to your quality resulting in an ideal balance of speed and quality.

Overall, you will almost never see a noticeable FPS boost (at least, I never have) when using Omega's driver sets. What you will see, however, is similar or slightly lower FPS numbers with a marked improvement in image quality resulting basically in a much better looking game with no loss in playability and occasionally a gain in playability with some compatibility tweaks usually thrown in there as he is able to address some minor issues brought up after the official driver release.

It's great to see the new site and work on Vista.

Those punks at Microsoft has me using certified drivers for Vista x64, but perhaps in the future there will be a useable way to get around that.

Thanks for the Drivers Omega.
They don't fix what I was hoping for though. Stupid Nvidia Drivers broke Nvidia Scaling Since 169.04 beta drivers. Keep up the good work though.

I don't think it can be fixed correctly with a driver. i wound up getting a different TV to even get it to work. the fix nvidia gives isn't a real fix either.

Start>Run>cmd (don't hit enter. It'll find the file, right click on it and run as administrator)

Enter the following:

Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON

Now you'll also be able to install rivatuner. :-)

Naw, i'm certain it can be fixed via driver, because it worked in 169.04 and before.

Omega. I can't thank you enough for releasing the 64bit version for vista. I've been looking forward to your driver releases for a couple years now (both ati and nvidia). It's good to see you back in the Nvidia game.

I installed the OmegaDrivers, and when I go to the Nvidia control panel, all I get is

Can someone how to get those flat panel scaling options, or how to select those added resolutions? All I want is to be able to run in 1600*1024 like I used to in XP

Yep, in fact, to get OC working you need to install nTune since I didn't included any tweaking utilities yet.

I really must thank you. In fact, thanking you was my soul motivation for joining this board. To put it simply, NVidia's drivers are broken pieces of crap which, on a good day, will crash within ten minutes of starting any application involving DirectX 10, and on a bad day, within 10 seconds.

Finally got Hellgate London working in DX10 and Lost Planet no longer crashes 10 minutes in on DX10. In fact, you've resolved every DX10 related crash I have had so far that I can reproduce. So really, I'm grateful.

rolleyes

Currently, I'm not having any trouble. I'll give your drivers a try. In My Radeon I don't use them coz they cause some undesired effect in my TV Sad... they rock in games.

I hope you make Omega based in 169.32! This is the best driver I found uot there. If you want, pick a International version with modded INFs in XFX's website. (If seems everybody, including XFX, noticed these drivers are the best drivers nVidia has ever released). They made Los PLanet's benchmark achieve 5fps average in DX10 mode. Maximum went up by 3 and minimum by 4! And the game is smooth, very smooth.
Getting 15~37fps in Crysis (Medium, 1440x900) and, even at 15fps, the game doesn't seems to be at 15fps.

Anyway, I don't think XFX tweaked the driver. I downloaded it from nVidia's website (8800GS) and a modded INF and the results are the same.

So, please, make an omega based in 169.32
