Media player pauses when i insert a DvD

hope someone can help here

small niggle with Win 7 if i am watching a film through media player and at some point i inesrt a DvD or CD into one of the drives if there are any movies on that CD then media player will stop the film i am watching and start to play the avi/mpeg etc that is on the CD

any ideas how to stop this i have a feeling its really simple

only a week on Win 7 at the moment so i am still finding my way about

you may try the control panel, auto play options. should be able to disable the auto play function for vid files, or all types of media if you wish.

just checked that and its set to open and view with explorer not Media player ... worth a try though so cheers

How about completely disabling the autoplay or set it to Do nothing?

ok itried that and still no joy ...

hope its ok but heres a post on another forum that explains it all better than i can if anyone would take a quick read and offer any ideas i would really appreciate it

Windows 7 Media Player interrupts playback to change media when disc inserted (not autoplay)

anyone have any ideas if i am watching a film and decide to backup some files the film im watching stops Media player checks the CD and then plays it Autoplay does not seem to stop it regardless

small small niggle i know but a niggle none the less

I tried that and WMP does indeed interrupts current playback to play inserted DVD regardless the completely disabled autoplay. I have no idea how to disable this (stupid) behavior, I haven't found any usable option in the WMP settings. It happens even while the Shell Hardware Detection service is stopped, seems like the WMP itself is watching for media changes.

There are more threads like this over the net without a solution...

ah well the more people that recognise it as an issue the more chance there is MS may sort it

Can MP11 be installed in Win 7 ....... hits google

solved it by installing VLC and then kicked MP12 into touch

MP12 drives me nuts actually ...if I'm watching a video and insert a USB key at the same time, the fricken library starts loading and my video now disappears

I wish the Library thing would DIE.
