win7 problem please help

hey every1
Is any1 else have this problem on win 7?

A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer.

This keeps poping up everytime on ie8 explorer.Ive looked everywhere for a fix like this one....

  1. Make sure IE 8 is closed then navigate to registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
  2. Add a new “Expandable String value” inside the above mentioned key with a value name of “AppData” and a value data of “%USERPROFILE%\Application Data”.
  3. Reopen IE 8 and see if you still get the error message.
This problem as been with us since the launch of explorer8 microsoft said they couldnt reproduce the same bug on there puters so they gave up

Thank you for this feedback.

In our investigations to date we have not been able to reproduce this problem as described. However, with the release of IE8 December Partner Build this bug is outdated; it may have been fixed by the many changes we’ve made since Beta 2. If your issue still reproduces on the latest IE build, please update the repro steps and re-activate your bug.

Thank you,
The IE Team

If they cant help us we are lost

Please post a fix for me thx in advance

Re: win7 problem please help

The first thing you have to do is identify exactly which program is causing this. Also which version of 7 are you running? Is it the RC1, or the released version?

Is there anything, any where, that gives you an indication of WHICH program that is causing this? Places like the error log, events log, etc?

If not, about the only way to isolate it, would be to do an clean install, then install just one application at a time, testing between each, to see just what application causes that issue to occur. Are you running some really old applications, or some little known applications? I'm betting that it's something like that, as an issue like that would have been found and fixed with any common application with as much beta testing as was done wuth 7. Those would be the applications that I'd keep a particular eye on.

Once you know which application is causing it, and advise Microsoft of the same, they will have a better chance of giving you a fix, if possible.
