EEK! Problem with media player with MPG's

Since last friday, when I got Win7, I have reloaded it twice now. Only problem I have is the media player has NO sound on MPG files, but other types are OK. Also, some time the MPG video will jump, skip ahead into the film but still with NO sound. I used the Pro-upgrade, with a clean install. I don't have any thoughts on how to fix this, so I need help PLEASE!!!!

Re: Problem with media player with MPG's

Have you tried VLC or a different codex ?

Quote:
VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player supporting most audio and video formats (H.264, Ogg, DivX, MKV, TS, MPEG-2, mp3, MPEG-4, aac, ...) from files, physical media (DVDs, VCD, Audio-CD), TV capture cards and many network streaming protocols.

Re: Problem with media player with MPG's

I'm not sure (my copy of W7 haven't arrived yet), is the WMP in W7x64 64bit or 32bit? If it is 64bit I would recommend to install just the 64-bit ffdshow and try to enable the MPEG audio decoders only, because last time I tried a 64-bit build not everything worked. The rest of the decoders could be enabled if needed.

Another option would be to use other player, in that case I recommend MPC-HC (included in CCCP).

Re: Problem with media player with MPG's

The best codec I've tried , it runs all media files for me " I use Media player classic as a default"
Download K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

Re: Problem with media player with MPG's

THANK YOU ALL, who offered the help! I spent alittle over an hour with support at Microsoft, with the result of my media player in Win7 is broken..... Like I didn't know that. The tech said to get another media player program and they marked my case # as NOT resolved and will push it up the chain. Well I thank you for the media players that was suggested and now checking them out. I can only HOPE for a SP for Win7 soon, HA HA HA HA PS- I think Win7 is the BEST Windows yet!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Problem with media player with MPG's

I installed DivX and most of my issues have gone away with any movie files I had.
