Raid drivers on fresh install....
I've got a Gigabyte MA790X-DS4 mother board which has the sb600 south bridge chip. I can't get Win 7 to recognize the drivers for the raid controller.
I've downloaded the drivers off of AMD's site along with the chipset/raid drivers from Gigabytes site and neither have worked. I've put them on a USB drive and have unchecked the box to check only for win 7 drives (which does give me a list of raid drivers to install) however none of them work. Any suggestions? I'm not finding a whole lot on it through google so was wondering if anyone had any ideas. |

Re: Raid drivers on fresh install....
I peeked into the Gigabyte driver package and there are a couple of folders named RAID. Although they lie under the folder "SB7xx" perhaps they work with SB600 as well. Try pointing the installation towards the contents of those two folders. After unpacking the path looks something like this: motherboard_driver_chipset_amd_7series-v2.0_win7-64_novga\win7-64bit\Packages\Drivers\SBDrv\SB7xx\RAID\W764A
If that doesn't work then perhaps you need a SB600 specific package. |

Re: Raid drivers on fresh install....
its possible that you dont even need them....
when i built on a 790GX system, all i needed to do is just go into the RAID BIOS and configure the disks.... i dont think i needed the drivers.... but try to put all the contents of the subfolders in the main drive entry as i dont think the installer can see them all...... but i forget...

Re: Raid drivers on fresh install....
Finally got it going.
Kris23, unfortunately it wouldn't find the hard drives with out the drivers installed. MKK, I appreciate the time that you spend doing that (my download took almost a half hour for those drivers- slow as dirt) it was one of the first things I did was unpack those and tried the drivers, those ones didn't work. I did, however, download four files from a post in the AMD forums in some obscure link that ended up working. The file names were the same so I'm guessing they had modified them. What ever the case, after using those ones, the drives became available and I was able to run Raid 0 on this box. So... if anyone needs Win 7 64 bit SB600 Raid drivers, let me know. |

Re: Raid drivers on fresh install....
Is it possible that you can post the link in this thread? That way if someone with the same issue comes along they'll know where to look for the solution. TIA.

Re: Raid drivers on fresh install....
Yeah, I've looked through the ATI forums and can't find it again. It was in a off topic post that I ended up stumbling on with the link to the zip files needed that actually worked. I kept the files if anyone needs them though or if someone wants to host them someplace, I can send them as well (they aren't that big -just .ini files).
