No matter how many reformats Aero keeps shutting down

I have an Asus EAH 4890, 8gb DDR 3 OCZ, an AMD 720 x3. Basically a complete rebuild. I have installed Win 7 with cat 9.6 and 9.5. I have refornated and reinstalled many different versions of Win7 and no programs. For some reason the DWM.exe keeps shutting down. Over and over until I just get the plain ol blue windows. The only way to get aero back is to reinstall Cat 9.6. but that only lasts so long. Sometimes going into services.msc and stopping and starting windows desktop manager would fix temporarilly but it would close it 3 times and then turn off.

I tried the stupidreg hack for people with lower base scores but that wrecked my OS since my score is 6.0. All I got were windows that opened with black filling. Is this a catalyst issue? At one point this wasn't an issue and everything worked excellent. It's only recent. I have no viruses using Norton Gamer and no adware.

Please help or post with same problem.

This is the detail I get from the problem

Re: No matter how many reformats Aero keeps shutting down

i've encountered something similare on 2 distinct machines with little to no similarities aside from the video adapter..

both of which were nvidia..

both of which would start off with aero working... however would for no apparently reason.. crash.. and then disable aero for sake of stability for me...

i could get aero working again through some difficult means, but sometimes it would work a week ... sometimes 5 minutes... and BOOM.. toast....

this occured with a Nvidia 6300 and a nvidia GTS 8800

Re: No matter how many reformats Aero keeps shutting down

Well I just reformatted again. Still having the same issue. Even before I installed a program. I went and did a Ctrl+Shift+Esc and in the processes it was running high. Turned down to normal and it seamed to slow down but went back to high on it's own. I can get it to re turn on by going to services.msc and going to desktop windows management, then turning it off and turning it back on. I can tell from that it;s not the card. My card rocks. But since Newegg RMA's everything and I still have the box, etc. I may send it back if the next cat 9.7 doesn't resolve this. I haven't had a chance to try and games yet. I have been working so hard to figure this problem out I think my brain threw up.

Re: No matter how many reformats Aero keeps shutting down

Found out problem. I was thinking to myself "What piece of hardware am I using that's major that isn't using windows 7 drivers?" The only part I could think was the sound card. So I unhooked my Awesome Azuntech X-FI Prelude (they said they will have a driver this month.) I went to my Gigabyte Mobo site and they just released a Realtech driver for their mobo June 19, 2009. So I took the card out and I have 7.1 sound hooked to my mobo. I haven't has a single crash or error or anything so far. I have been running benchmarks and things. (fingers crossed)
