Upgrade to 7

Hey guys, i currently have 3 computers, 2 are running on Windows XP and one is running on Vista. What is your sense, should, I be planning on upgrading to Windows7. I am a Pro user. I am also very interested in knowing, how are you thinking through the upgrade process. Is there anything very compelling with Windows 7, that we cannot live with? Thanks- greatly appreciate your help

If you like vista the chances you will like Windows 7 due to the restructuring of the interface as well as some optimisations. I wouldn't use the "upgrade" feature of the OS however I would do a clean install on the HD.

Windows 7 is likely to be Microsofts primary focus in the coming year specifically with DX11 support etc.

You should try it - its a free download and you get a serial for around a year so plenty of time to come to your own conclusions.

Re: Upgrade to 7

As Z said above if you like Vista you will like Win7 as it is very similar with some nice additional features. I have been running it since the Beta stages and have had few issues with it ... in fact I am typing this post on Win7 on my main machine.

Not to go off topic but regarding XP I went back to it on this machine to try and use multiple video drivers for a project I was was working on. I ended up deleting the partition as XP was so slow in comparison to Vista and Win7 it was almost painful.

Ohh I almost forgot welcome to DH

Re: Upgrade to 7

I've never liked upgrade paths... upgrading from one OS to the next has always left this kind of residue and garbage behind that just never seems to want to go away or clean up. It's like a stain

Find yourself a OEM full copy when it launches, and you'll be able to save yourself some bucks and end up with a far cleaner system.

Been using Win7 as my main OS since end of september/start of october
