Windows 7 Gaming Performance or Lack Thereof and Random Thoughts

Windows 7 the beta! Yep got me one along with most people reading this I’m sure, is it all that? Not sure yet as it’s just a beta. Though if you look around the web you’ll find many sites touting the superiority of W7 over Vista and even (god forbid I say anything bad about it) XP, I still can’t figure out how they do this with a beta, maybe they know something I don’t…

erm...

i'm getting slightly better results in win7 then vista..

course the preview drivers i found to be pretty poor... however the 8.12's work great for me (the vista drivers... installed in win7)

That was pretty pointless as he was using a beta driver in a beta system (which actually runs pretty fast)...

Given that this is still beta, I'm not surprised. For one thing we don't know if it's intentionally crippled. Not saying it is, but Microsoft could have done it so that people don't keep using it for the long haul thinking they just bagged themselves a free OS.

In any case, there's still a lot of tweaking to the OS to be done, so I'm not going to judge performance on a beta OS to be indicative of a final release. I've taken part in too many betas to know that the final release is never the same as what came before.

Remember it's just beta I like win7 so far Much better then XP my take on my slow computer We just have wait for better drivers from ATI and creative then be all good

. And remember it takes over time make stuff.

I found it quite strange that I fancied playing UNREAL 2 again. Not sure why, just had an urge. So I redownloaded it from Steam and went to play. It would not work at all on XP, mind you I've upgraded processor twice since I last played it and have a better graphics card. Grrr very annoyed. This was on the XP partition. So I thought I'll copy the files from Steam on the Xp onto Steam on Win 7. Just a simple cut and paste, just to see what happens.

Woo. Plays straight away everything as smooth as Mr Smooth from smooth land. Now that suprised me.
