x1100

I have an Asus X51RL AP152L notebook with an Ati Radeon Xpress 1100 video card and the only drivers that identify my card as x1100 are the ones that came with the Asus cd,i tried downloading the latest ati drivers from their site and the ones here and mobility ones and i tried modding them with modtool but they identify my card as an x200M one,how can i solve this?

The name of the ati device does not affect the performance of the product nor does it mean you have installed the wrong driver. Use the driver that works best for you regardless of the name it shows.

Hmmmmm. With limited details and info that one is awkward to answer. First off are you experiencing any operational problems with the laptop? If so what?

The SB drivers on from the ATI site are actually a collection of driver bits for various SB parts and the components that are in the South Bridge. Individual manufacturers may impliment components in the SB or opt not to. Depending on the configuration of the ASUS laptop a component may be exposed yet there is no driver in the SB pack. Which may lead to the INF file not found. It is an annoyance but may not indicate that you have a real problem.

Essentially if the laptop is functioning and you can use the features then the INF message may be bogus.

So let me know what item is not working and we can figure out from there what to do. Integrated sound is not usually part of the SB but uses a Realtek device (or something like it) and their drivers. Network, IDE, USB, may be implicated. Hard to say without knowing what is not working. Kind of a circular argument.

Except from my multimedia keys (F9, F8, F10, F7 which should control sound level, wlan and such ) everything works fine, the IDE drivers were installed and all the USB`s work, the only issue was that i couldn`t install the drivers so that windows could see my board as x1100 instead of x200M, btw it`s still confused, it`s reading it as x1100/x200M video card and the fact that i couldn`t install the SB driver, but so far the laptop works fine, thanks for your help CATALYSTCATCHER.
