I have the X1400 in my Dell E1505 with vista Home Premium. I used the latest ATI drivers from ATI.com with the driver modder program thing for vista....crap I dont remember the name of it....its here on driverhaven tho....
EDIT:
ok ok. Download the latest ATI desktop drivers from ATI.com. Download mobility moder for either xp or vista from driver heaven. use the mobility modder to mod the desktop drivers for your x1400 before you install them. then install your modded drivers. if you need help follow the install instructions given by the mobility modder and these forums. BTW if your running xp use omega drivers. they work the best for the x1400 and you can over clock it fairly decently. for vista use the modded desktop drivers.
oh and before you install anything download driver cleaner, uninstall your current drivers in the hardware manager, reboot into safe mode, run driver cleaner, clean out the leftover crap, reboot to windows normally and then install your new drivers!
