Problems X1550 on Vista
My PC has an onboard video card (IGP9100) and a X1550 AGP. I only want to use the X1550 for a single monitor. It used to work fine under XP, but stopped when I installed Vista. With a bit of investigation, I think I'm suffering from the WDDM vs. XPDM incompatibility issue, and it causes an error 43 and doesnt load the display adapter driver. I have tried telling the BIOS to boot the AGP display driver first (I dont seem to be able to switch off the on-board display adapter), and loaded very latest drivers and Vista SP1 etc. But I simply cannot get the display driver to load, and simply end up running in VGAsave mode, with none of the features or power of the video card available.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Andrew

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!
Just to make sure you have tested the newest Catalyst 8.4 drivers for Vista? And have you installed the latest motherboard drivers?
Anyway since you have integrated chip your drivers can be downloaded here : AMD GAME Drivers And Utilities

thanks very much for your reply.
I had 8.4 loaded already for the X1550 AGP card, but just tried loading the IGP version for the 9000 chip on the motherboard. Still the same. An error 43.
anyone have any more thoughts?
thanks
andrew

You might use the Catalyst crew feedback program to let them know that there's an issue. Since it sounds like its driver related.
