Force install CCC on "incompatible" hardware?

I've got the AGP version of the Radeon HD 3850 and I can force install the 8.3 Catalyst drivers easily enough, but I'm *dying* to try out the new features in the CCC like the aspect ratio scaling and such. I'd really like to know if there's some way I can force a detection of my card so the installation program will actually let me install CCC, or if I just have to sit tight and pray that Sapphire releases their own drivers for it soon...

If anyone knows how I can get it going (or heck, even the registry entry to add/change to try out that scaling stuff) I'd sure appreciate it.

Well, in the meantime I've been doing a lot of searching around and I actually figured out something that 95% works. I started with the older CCC uninstalled and ran the setup for the Powercolor Cat 8.2 package which will correctly detect my card and offer to install the CCC. I went through the process until it asks me which components I want to install, and then I deleted the CCC folder out of the Packages directory and pasted in the folder from the standalone 8.3 CCC package from ATi and continued. Amazingly, it installed and ran without error so I can finally enjoy my tasty, wonderful GPU scaling options. The other new CCC features like de-noise and such are there as well.

The only snag is that since there's a new folder and MSI for Hydravision, which (obviously) wasn't a part of 8.2, that part doesn't get installed as far as I can tell. I assume it would show up as a part of the CCC or maybe in the start menu somewhere, but I don't see it. There may be some other stuff I could move around to make the program be able to look for and install it but that's really on the backburner right now. I'm happy with this even if Sapphire or whoever never actually repackages the 8.3 with the CCC.
