atikmdag.sys crash troughout 7.x - 8.2
OK, so just to clear some things up:
Gigabyte X38DQ6, OCZ 800MHZ and Q6600 all at stock settings.
My memory, my board, my CPU, my driver... everything works absolutely fine.
I have a 750W Silverstone Zeus PSU which has also a very stable current (voltages) and enough power.
The problem with atikmdag.sys is very well known for months now.
I've been using XP 32 bit, Vista 32 bit with no problems at all.
Since I've installed Vista 64 and started using dual monitor setup, there ain't a day when my system does not crash for the very atikmdag.sys problem.
No. It does not overheat because either my 2900XT or new 3870X2 both crash the very same way.
I get the crash on completely random. By just surfing Internet, working (programming) or playing games in full screen or windowed.
What I would like to ask is: will ATi ever fix this problem or I'll just have to stop using Vista?
From what I've read so far, that being tens of pages and articles and forums online, the problem if probably in the ATi's voltage/fan/clock dynamic regulator.
If you would be so kind to allow us to turn that off and run our cards on max or minimum clocks would be great.
If anyone here has any working fix for this, that would be really great.
Thank you in advance.
This is really becoming a problem as it completely renders my machine unstable and thus unreliable.
It's really embarasing for ATi that they haven't put any real effort in solving the issue, because they had more than enough time to write debug drivers that logs every single step.
Hence even more, they could have ran a completely manual debug so far and find what causes the problem.
Installing new drivers for months was to no avail...
