Hi
I've the same problem as Goethe. Installed Vista Ultimate on my Acer Aspire with ATI mobility Radeon 9700. Windows installed a driver for it that didn't work. Found this website with the mod and the Catalyst did intall, however, vista still has a problem with the driver and disables it. After startup I get a message telling me no ATI devices were found and CCC doesn't start up.
What can this be??? And how can it be solved? Anyone any luck with the 9700 on an Acer?
Edit: After reading Sandstorms post on problems with dual cores, I've disabled hyperthreading on my P4 processor. However, I still get the same message: "No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not working properly. Pleas install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATO hardware".

Hey guys,
I'm having the same problem with my Toshiba Satellite P35 with Mobility 9700 64Mb.
None of the Vista drivers nor the Mobility Modded drivers work. Both give the same "Code 43 Error" after restart.
The only drivers that I've gotten to work stable are Omega 3.8.205 for XP. Since they're not certified, however, I can't run Aero, which really sux.
Anyone have any ideas?

hi, im new here.
I have the same problem, i installed the latest ati radeon ccc setup with display drivers. The setup worked fine, no errors appeard. After the reboot, Catalyst error pops out and says no display driver found or please enable it, so i cheked device mananger and there i have a stupid "!" thingy near radeon 9600 pro. Seems like Vista dosen't accept older graphics cards or what?
So i tried updating radeon 9600 drivers with windows xp catalyst 7.10 display drivers. selected inf file, everything worked fine. display driver had no "!" after reboot but still I cannot use the Catalyst control panel, I still keep getting the error pop up. I also tried installing xp ccc setup but the same problem
Games work, but i need Catalyst too !
Please anyone, we need help !
I just got Vista Ultimate...

I have the same problem on Clevo/Prestigio laptop with Ati Radeon Mobility 9700 12MB,
I installed Catalyst 7.10 (modded)... the driver works, so do the games
... Aero does not work
... CCC does not work (so i uninstalled it and left just the drivers)
Aero work on the first ATi drivers January 2007 when Vista came out, but had other problems (blank screen on log in...), so it is possible to run Aero with my hardware...
Any ideas?

Hello Geothe. I'm very sorry it took this long to get to your problem. We'll see what we can do.
First off, we need your full system specs, including the make and model of your laptop.
Second, was your Windows installation an upgrade, or a clean install? Is this Vista x32 or x64?
Third, have you installed the chipset (motherboard) drivers for your laptop?
Fourth, do any 3D games run.
Answer the above, and we'll move on. thanks for your patience.

Second, was your Windows installation an upgrade, or a clean install? Is this Vista x32 or x64?
A Full installation of Vista x32
Third, have you installed the chipset (motherboard) drivers for your laptop?
I Think so...windows installed it automaticaly..its a laptop, there was no CD for the mainboard but i think it is a ati mainboard.
If Not, can you give me a link of my drivers? I dont know much about pc's, i mean if you see the mainboard on the report.
Fourth, do any 3D games run.
No.
Answer the above, and we'll move on. thanks for your patience.
Thank you so much for your help!

@Goethe
Most likely, Vista won't install your chipset drivers because of the proprietery nature of notebooks motherboards. If you can't find anything at the toshiba website, do a google search for "MEDION FID2140 vista" and see what drivers you can get.
The problem I am having is that the specific model apparently was only sold in Germany, and I can speak German, so its tough do any further research.
It does appear to me that the problem is you don't have your chipset drivers installed, so you just need to find them and give them a go. I'll do what I can, but given the language barrier, it will be tough for me. Let me know what google turns up.
