ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 in Vista

Hi,

I've installed Vista and I have a IBM Thinkpad T42. The graphics adapter it uses is an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500, this was working fine with the modded Catalyst driver in XP before.

I have managed to get some support installing the standard ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM) driver in Windows, but I'd prefer to use the Catalyst driver instead.

I tried to use the latest Catalyst 7.5 with the modder v0.8.0.0, but the driver was not installed, the Catalyst Install Manager reports after the installation the error:

Driver Install: the specified driver package was not installed for matching devices

Is there anything I can do to support this video card in Vista with the modded Catalyst Driver? This is the information for my graphics card:

Name ATI Radeon Graphics Processor
Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
Device ID 0x4c57
Vendor ID 0x1002
Class Code 0x030000
Revision ID 0x00
Subsystem ID 0x0530
Subsystem vendor ID 0x1014

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Luis

There is utterly nothing but what you've already done, to support the card.

ONLY radeon 9500 and higher (newer) cards are vista supported,

sorry to say, but your completely out of luck.

Is there any way we can have an external monitor attached to this laptop work. (Incidentally, I have an exact hardware set up as above.) I had a second monitor hooked up to the VGA port of the laptop and XP would sense the second monitor (in Display Properties).

Vista does not recognize the monitor connected to the VGA port.

Also, the key combination (Fn+F7) for sending output to an external display device does not work. This is probably because the driver for the display is a generic driver.

Any suggestions in this aspect will be appreciated.
