Sad 64-bit Vista Omega Blue Screen Upon Install

I am running Windows Vista 64-bit Home Premium, and I am using an nVidia graphics card (8800 GTX).

I went to the Omega site to download the nVidia Vista 64-bit drivers. It told me to uninstall any drivers I currently have on the computer, so I went to Control Panel and uninstalled the default nVidia Display Driver. The thing is, I only installed that; there were 3 other drivers, like nTune and Ethernet and something else.

So, I removed that driver and restarted my computer. I click the Omega installation icon. I accept the agreement and hit install. The instant I hit install, I immediately get a blue screen of death stating "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION". Any time I restart the computer again, it loads up but a minute later, it gives me a blue screen with the same error.

I was able to start up in safe mode and reinstall the default nVidia drivers, and now the computer seems to be stable.

But, I kind of wanted the Omega drivers, since I've heard that they provide better performance in games than the default ones.

What did I do wrong? Why is it giving me a blue screen as soon as I install it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try removing nTune also since it may not like custom drivers. However, leave your other Nvidia stuff alone (ex: Ethernet)

To be honest, if you have blue screen issues with Omega drivers, it is almost not worth fiddling too much in order to get it to work when the consequence is a blue screen. The improvement we're talking about here is like 2-3 fps improvement (if that) and ever slightly higher image quality that you won't really notice in game unless you pay attention.

Now I'm in no way saying Omega drivers are bad, I myself used to use them too when I had my ATI card. I'm only saying that if it's too much hassle, just don't do it if you don't have the time.
