8600M GT Drivers stop working

Hello, I have a laptop with an 8600M GT with Vista and I have the nVidia 156.55 Vista-32bits Driver from Dell's website released 10/31/2007. But these drivers don't seem to like to work very well and previous versions also malfunction. When I'm playing any game about every 30 mins I will get interrupted and taken to desktop. A message will pop up saying "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding, but has succesfully recovered", and then a couple minutes later the game will resume by itself.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend new drivers or tell me how to fix this. I'm a n00b here, so thanks for the help!
