The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers
I've been getting a lot of BSOD's lately due to the NVIDIA drivers, so I ran DH Driver Version Check.NET. It told me the following information:
Installed Driver: ForceWare 156.55
Newest Available Driver: ForceWare 169.12
Windows Vista Ultimate Editions
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
So, I downloaded the 169.12 driver, but when I attempt to install it I get the following error:
The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.

you need to use mobility modder (i forget if it works for nvidia cards too) to install the drivers into your laptop, most manufacturers make it so you can only install particular drivers.

That seems a bit drastic, but is something I will consider as a last resort. I've currently rolled back to 7.15.11.5655 from 23/08/2007 and we'll see how stable my laptop is with these old drivers.

Welcome to DH.
You can download drivers from here which have been modified to work with Nvidia mobile cards. Give them a shot and see what you get.
I'd use DriverCleaner to hopefully get rid of your BSOD problems. It's definetly worth the price of admission, it will save you many-a-headache.

Thanks for the laptopvideo2go tip. Looks like they have a modified .inf file so I can install the 169.12 drivers. But, there is a later driver: 169.25 so I'll give that a go after I've uninstalled the existing driver and run DriverCleaner. I have run DriverCleaner before, but I simply reinstalled the 156.55 drivers.

Currently running 169.25 (7.5.11.6925). So far, so good. If it bsod's again then I'll have a fun xmas re-installing Vista.
