More than 60HZ in Vista x64?
Hi there!
I have a problem in Vista x64 with my Geforce 8800GTX and Forceware 163.44 Beta Drivers ( I think other ForceWare-Drivers have the same problem). When I am playing games I only have a refresh rate of 60HZ on my CRT-Monitor. I cannot find any setting for this in the nVidia options. I also tried "Direct Refresh" which does not work. Than I tried RivaTuner, but I cannot install it proberly, because it says, that it is not allowed to install an unsigned driver. Disabling this "nice" Driver-Signing-Feature in Vista did not help either... In the ini-File of the Bioshock Demo I changed "Desired Refresh Rate" to 70, 75 and 85, but I only have 60 HZ in the game which causes me headaches :-(
Does anyone have a clue how I can get more than 60HZ in games under Vista x64?
Thx
Chris

So 85Hz works fine on the desktop?
Do you have this problem with all games?

Actually, the only way to get more than 60Hz in games on Windows Vista is RefreshLock. It dynamically changes the refresh rate when it's below your desired rate.
All other ways like modifying the monitors inf file or programs like RefreshForce won't work. Vista simply ignores those settings.

I used PowerStrip under Vista x86 to add a higher refresh rate for my CRT monitor yesterday and it worked on the desktop.

Maybe it works on the desktop but in games the refresh rate switches back to 60Hz. I got 75Hz (LCD) on my desktop, but in games I got 60Hz.

unfortunately microsoft have slipped in two (yes two) updates for vista which disable the use of beta drivers for vista x64, ive had a nightmare myself with this and ive turned off updates for vista now and manually pick them. I lost the use of rivatuner for a while.

I found no way getting up the refresh rate over 60 HZ in Vista 64-bit
I now switched to Vista 32-bit and there it works with RivaTuner without a problem... (automatic updates disabled and no update installed...)

Only in games, or on the desktop as well? Does the LCD support anything other than 60 Hz?
