No MIDI with Audigy 2 ZS Pro
MoinMoin!
I have the SBlastercard Audigy2 ZS Pro with breakoutbox. My kX driver works fine and I recorded so many projects with this card, but.
Now I want to connect my Yamaha PSR2000 keyboard to play some good, or better Sounds with VSTi' s. I connected my MIDI-Out with the MIDI-In at the breakoutbox with the included adaptercable. Every Input I chose, there is no MIDI signal fpr input. If I will test the output, I see MIDI-Output signals from Cubase but my Keyboard don't do anything. My keayboard settings are fine and I can get connections to other MIDI devices, like an external drumcomputer. In MIDI-Ox I don' t see signals, too.
Please help me!
Greets
Marco

You do have a soundfont loaded - no? They dont get loaded by default with KX - nor do they get installed with KX. You'll need to find the ones that came on the original A2 disks.
The REAR (DB-15) connector of the A2ZS is called 'KX UART MIDI IN/OUT' -
The Breakout box one should be the 'KX UART 2 MIDI IN/OUT'
(Thats how it is on a NON-PRO A2ZS Plat. anyway - with the drive bay I/O box)
edit:
I just noticed your looking to control VSTi's
Do you have one that is a STANDALONE - that doesnt require a MIDI HOST?
I would try this -to make sure its not a cubase/KX problem.
It may also help if you state the OS and version of KX your using.

Also -for controlling the keyboard...
This has 'Auto Accompaniment' - correct?
Note then: that NOT all channels may work as expected - IIRC - (other Yamaha KB's) some channels will set 'easy finger chords' - its been a while since I had one and remeber it didnt act as expected and needed to look at the 'MIDI IMPLEMENTATION' chart to better understand how it would work.
Also - be aware of HOW patches (more precisely the BANK SELECT METHOD) are selected - they are PROBABLY different - so sending what used to be a SF patch - now sent to the keyboard - may select a 'blank patch'. Which IIRC are ALWAYS sent at the time of pressing START in the MIDI host - (this may be possible to dis-able, but Im not a cubase expert)

Hello and thanks for answering!
Ok, I tried to play during my standalone Instrument EastWestOrchestra and it is the same like in Cubase. The ACPM 'Auto Accompaniment' is disabled. But there is no input anyway. In the MIDID Settings of my PSR I can see, that the KB is sending on Chanel 1 and Chanel one is loaded with a Instrument.

Did you need to make changes for that to work?
Now - for cubase to receive MIDI in - the midi port needs to be configured/enabled.
(I have SX3 so it may not be exact same)
Theres a device manager accessable with in cubase - make sure that the KX UART is ACTIVE - and is also the default MIDI INPUT.

same problem with a USB keyboard
Hey guys,
have the same problem with a USA keyboard - no audio from Cubase SX3when trying to play midi-keyboard, though it plays midi files ok and shows that there is a midi signal put in, but no output. Keyboard plays ok with standalone VSTi instruments.
Help! )))
