Cubase no MIDI into VST's DXI No playback

I'm running Windows XP SP2 , SB Live, and KX DRivers
When I open Native Instruments Absynth, my midi keyboard an Evolution MK-149 works fine, and powers the .glo files
When i open up a Host sequencer , like Cubase , Logic, Sonar , I can load the same DXI, VST Instruments , it displays , but i get occasionally sound by clickin on the digital keyboard attached to the instrument e.g absynth, but the midi will not play the DXI Instrument, I then press record in cubase, it will record what i playing on my MIDI, but it will not play what i'm playing or let me hear what i recorded, is there something I am doing wrong? anyone have any instructions as to how I could operate cubase better , or any drivers etc needed, I'm really gettin annoyed, and no one knows what is wrong w ith it.
I have attempted to fix it myself, by doing these steps as follows, but as yet no luck
would someone be able to explain what the Hell I am doing wrong?
No MIDI music playback Default Device

Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth is there
attempted to
Configure Sounds and Audio Device Properties for cubase
I have checked my ASIO drivers
and Sound card configuaritions
cant hear no virtual instruments in cubase

Have you set your seq soft to play this VSTi/DXi?
For ex. on Sonar (MIDI track's properties)
MIDI Track #1
--> I: MIDI Ch #
--> O: DXi/VSTi on use
--> Ch: # on VSTi/DXi
--> Bank: # on VSTi/DXi
--> Patch: # <selected from the drop list>

jiitee

BTW: You seem to have quite expensive software there, compared to your HW --> Wouldn't it be wise to get a sound card that fits better to this quality level ?

System Specs

in Cubase, IIRC, you need to send a midi track to the VSTi loaded

I'm not sure if Cubase supports DXi instruments though… i'm a logic user so i can't help you too greatly

Yes, cubase supports DXi, and correct, a midi-track has to be assigned to a VSTi and the used midi-channel has to meet the used VSTi´s specification.
