No midi sound

Basically I'm having the problem alot of people are having.. and there is really no general tutorial (that I've seen), that shows or explains exactly how to get midi sounds to play. All I really want to do is receive sound from GuitarPro, which uses midi interface, I presume, and I've loaded several soundfonts and none seem to work...

If anyone has had this specific, or similar problems, can you point me to the soundfont you used, or if anyone has an idea of which soundfont, or can tell me how to do this, it would be greatly appreciated. I've been at this for about 2 weeks now, usually getting frustrated and quitting.

I can play MIDI files fine. I have 2gmgsmt.sf2 loaded right now. Other than interfacing with GuitarPro, can you just play a simple MIDI file. Search for any *.mid file on your puter and double click it and see if it plays.

In the kX mixer, if I click on "f" for the soundfont manager, this is displayed:

Top Panel
#1 (bank 0) '2GMGS E-Mu Rev N' [1800 KB]

Bottom Panel
Total 1 SoundFont loaded (Total Size: 1800Kb)

Does yours display something similar? Are you loading Soundfonts by using the + sign?

kX works fine with Guitar Pro. In Guitar Pro, go to 'Options' -> 'Midi Setup' and set one of the Midi Output Devices to kX Synth1 or Kx Synth2. Then make sure your tracks are set to use the port that you assigned to the kX Synth.

In kX Mixer make sure that you load at least one complete GM/GS SF Bank. You can use the one's that came with the sound card (i.e. on the Creative Labs Installation CD), or download some from the internet.

Aside from that, if you are still having trouble, you may want to go into the kX DSP window , and reintialize the DSP to be certain that you did not accidentally disconnect the connections for midi, etc.

If you are using 3538i, be aware that there is a bug that effects that midi drum channels, so you will not hear the drum tracks in Guitar Pro (again only with 3538i and the kX Synths).
