soundfont sf2 to vst GM plug in
Hello,
Is possible to convert a sf2 soundfont file into a GM vst similar to edirols hyper canvas?
Thanks

Hey thanks for the quick response, but my main purpose is to able to play midis foobar2000.
Currently there is a foobar2000 beta plugin which supports vst instruments, I simply just want to be able to listen to midis in foobar2000 with my current soundfonts. Is this even possible?

I downloaded a demo of vsampler3, which is a vsti sampler, but I do not know what to do from there. (I am very new to these vst instruments)
Also I might not have been clear enough on my previous posts, sorry. I simply want foobar be able to use a vsti dll file to play midi without any other programs.
The beta plugin, foo_midi, takes a vst dll file, which has some instruments similar to the edirol hyper canvas GM2 dll file, (it contains a whole set of instruments similar to soundfonts). I know there are a lot of vst instruments out there, but many of them are only in one dll file, and foo_midi only takes one dll file. So I am wondering if I can combine all instruments to make one big vst dll file.
I'm assuming that I must have the vsti sampler open along with my foobar player am I correct to play midis or am I way off? Please fill me in since I basically know nothing about vst instruments.

Does anyone have any idea? I'm not sure if I'm even asking a valid question.

Im not sure if I have foo_midi - but I have a panel in foobars prefs called 'MIDI synthesizer Host' which Ill assume IS the foo_midi you mentioned.
Foobar2000 - unfortunatly ONLY will make use of a soft synth and no ability to use the hardware KX synths.. - If you want, use the Hypercanvas DLL as it seems like the ONLY GM capable VSTi on your system.
And NO - you can NOT group a bunch of DLL's to make one big DLL in the way you desire - it would require the source code which Im sure is well protected by the VSTi developers. Not to mention (Im SURE) a lot of code changes.
I did not need to load any VSTis when testing. The seem to load, with NO GUI to the VSTi.. ?? hmmm. I hate it when I cant 'tweak'
I would recommend requesting the foo_midi plugin developers to incorporate at least the windows default MIDI port (or better: select the MIDI output port you want) as a selection in the 'devices' in foo_midi. THIS way YOU CAN load soundfonts into KX and be good to go no need for VSTi's or any other software.
If not - winamp will.
I dont care for foobar200 btw - its not mature enough to compete with winamp IMHO. or even WMP.
