Emu10000X

Hey guys I am still on my witch hunt for the ultimate EMU10kx sampler. So after some months and selling of my creamware card to pay the rent, I am back to my audigy and live cards, trying to do the impossible.

Heres my current attempt:

tools needed:

* Win 98 SE
* SBLive/Audigy card(KX Compatible)
* KX Project 3537 drivers(refer here for install problems)

Find kx.sys (in 3537 directory) - rename it to kxnt.sys (or just delete)
Find kx98.sys - rename it to kx.sys
Reinstall (e.g. 'update driver' from within devices panel)

* Mazsound Vsampler 1.6 or 1.7b Full hardware wavetable programmer. get that here>> VSAMPLER 1
* Get the Key here>>>>>> KEY in case your wondering, MAZ himself has given the away.


p.s.Ignore VSDEV(midi loopback) driver install message.(can install it later)

After installing all, everything seems fine...

however on my machine when I load up Vsampler(make sure that you choose Hardware Output SF in Vsampler Preferences)

and import a SF2 file, it gives me "error loading preset:113"

and there is no sound or any sf2 loaded evidence in the Kx SF panel.

Anyone willing to try this please let me know your results.

For what its worth, VSampler works on the CL drivers without a hitch, but you loose the functions that KX offers.

No ones making hardware samplers on cards anymore, like Samplecell, and the Creamware STS series

Vienna sucks, and if I could find a way to rearrange Vienna into a more user friendly app and then put it into a vst shell to control the hardware that would be glorious, but the SF SDK is old and outdated and CL are stingy on updating it.

And for those who are not aware..."Vsampler 1" interfaces directly with the soundfont engine on the EMU10k chip, unlike the recent "Vsampler 3" which is just another soft-synth.
