Think of it..
An integrated VST host / chainer with ASIO & MIDI support, instead of the current Soundfont based synth engine.
Wouldn't that be just great!?
We could have it the simple way, supporting only one VST instrument at the time, with one MIDI port and one ASIO output(stereo).
OR
A tiny VST chainer with multiple ASIO I/O support, and multiple MIDI ports, and with advanced multi-routing capabilities for the sound streams.
Exactly why i came up with this idea:
I have grown past Soundfonts, and started using VST instruments instead, thanks to KX.
It's tiresome to manually load up my host app at each boot, if i make windows load my host automaticly it doesn't minimize to system tray.
(That would be great and tidy)
As for now i'm using Xlutop's chainer, which is great, but lack a few important things as multiple MIDI port mappings.
Soooo.. The really big dream would be:
My favorite GM/GS VST-i automaticly loaded up at boot, integrated into KX as the default MIDI synth, with no fuzzy dialog boxes and stuff.
Just a little tray icon to access the VST synth, nothing more.
Why shouldn't this be done..... The current Soundfont based kx-synth is a software synth, so why not use a VST-i instead!!!
It would be a dream come true, next to the KX project itself ofcorse.
Ole.
