Midi Keyboard
Hello,
I have a MIDI keyboard that connects through a MIDI port that came with my Audigy 2 ZS card. I'm having trouble getting the keyboard to work. I've installed soundfonts and such so MIDIS play fine, but it doesn't seem like I can get any MIDI input. Please help Thanks.

midi in is not automatically routed to anything - so you need to use software that connects midi in to a midi out... midi ox can do this - or a sequencer.

I may be confused but I do have software for the keyboard. I was using it before installing kX drivers just fine. I of course don't expect me to hit keys and it to make sound without software But I have software and I set up the inputs to be the kX stuff, but it's not just not making a sound, but it's not even recieving the input at all

Oh never mind, I set it to the other kX stuff (not Control, but Uart) and it worked

sorry - I didn't pass my mind reading classes in school
You'll have to give more details - what software is 'for the keyboard'?
Whats the keyboard?
what midi ports did you set it up for?
How do you know its not receiving input?
Did you use the kX UART input? kX UART 2 is found on live drive or the expansion connector on the board.
Also I'll assume you use the KB to select patches... so...
Does your keyboard send CC#0/32 with patch changes? - does this match up with what kX synths use?
Do patch #s start at 0 or 1 on the keyboard.
etc.. etc..

Hey Maddogg,
I got the Midi stuff to work mostly.
I have one other problem. This won't work with "The Grand 2" even if I set it to Uart. It works with other midi software. This program I'm not sure how it works exactly, but it doesn't seem to work the same as other midi software.

I've narrowed down the problem. It is happening because of ASIO it seems. Sometimes it bugs out and gives me an error about latency and number of channels. I'm not sure what was causing it, but I got it to go away somehow and can't replicate it again. If it happens again (it probably will :P) I'll be back to check. Let me know if you have any more info on this.
I was getting a message that had to do with restarting the ASIO engine. I don't know how to do that, but it apparently got restarted. I believe it was running by itself somehow and was causing trouble with the software I was trying to use.

Sorry for the chain posts, but .. more developments It seems this problem happens when I try to set the ASIO to 24 bit. 16 bit works in all settings available but none of the 24 bit seem to. Once I've set it to 24 bit I need to restart the application also, or else even setting it to 16 bit won't fix it. Hmm

It seems that the WaveHQ device has to be selected as the playback and recording device in Sounds And Audio Devices Property page of Windows Control Panel in order for 24bit bit depth to work properly when using the kX driver.

yeah - I can't make 24 bit ASIO work in sonar either - 16/48 or 16/44 are the only modes I ever got to work.
16/44 is playback only btw.
You can try ASIO4ALL.

LMAO Man I musta been more tied than I thought! I can't believe I didn't notice he was trying to use ASIO in 24bit depth mode!
Of course kX does not support ASIO recording in 24bit depth mode, as of yet.
My above post was meant to refer to playback and recording in WDM mode.
Geez
