Hi,
since I have upgraded from cubase sx2 to sx3 I always run into the following problem: Whenever I open a file where kxsfi is used, the instrument loads up in "frozen" mode (orange icon in the vst instruments window) and I don't get any sound out of it.
The problem is easily solved by "unfreezing" the instrument (and sometimes having to load a new soundfont), but still I'd rather like to know whats behind this and be able to start my projects just as I saved them. I'm using kx 3538k and kxsfi 3538.7
Any help is appreciated.

This is due to changes in Steinberg VST-SDK (2.3 -> 2.4) and newer VST hosts like SX3 relying on it.

I don't think I'll update kXSFi because I expect SX3 should have it's SF loader/manager fixed by now. Has it?

Yes - my limited use of sx3, seems like the SF loader works fine.
The KX Synths show up as devices - and can load SF on a 'per project' basis.

Ok, than I gather the SF instrument & bank names also show up correctly in SX3 now?

They do indeed. I hadn't noticed that before. Thanks a lot for the help and for supplying kxsfi.
This means I have to do a bit of work on my old sx2-projects that relied on kxsfi, but I guess theres no way around it.
