Weird midi going on

Strange things happening with midi.. sb live 5.1 don't know whats caused it ... it was all fine.... going to defrag and reinstall kx drivers , but weird .. midi in only - i'm getting not on and off messages appearing as pitchbends , lots of system reset messages in midi
( logged via midiox) midi out is fine, audio in and out is fine. could be the cable but it should be secured... unless its worked loose some how ... its 3538 driver version

doe anyone recodnise this kind of thing....
