Help - Can't get Soundfonts working!

Hi
I'm thick and need some help getting soundfonts to work with the latest kx3538j.

I'm trying to load them using the kx soundfont manager and get 'error loading soundfont'. The one's I've tried are from www.midi-contest.com - merlin_jupiter at 100MB, merlin_grand at 50MB. The only one that will load is merlin_wxp at 18mb.
Even then, the midi drums won't work properly and play a piano note instead.
Also tried Timidity - no sound. And Synthfont gets dropouts.

Using WinXP with 512MB ram and SB Audigy. I thought this would be plenty.

Really don't want to go back to Creative drivers, at least I could use large soundfonts.
Can anyone provide a solution?

I have the same amount of ram as you with Windows 2000 and kX 3538j, and can easily load two 100+ megabyte sound fonds at once(Fluid for example).

Did you uninstall all Creative stuff first before installing kX? Use Driver Cleaner to be sure and try re-installing the drivers.

Try this soundfont set:

try the 'Synth Compatability' settings... LEGACY DECAY/RELEASE. But be aware that these soundfonts use high polophony.
What that means is for each note struck - its using more resources than 'normal'.

Also- you may need to get more RAM - for 100MB soundfonts - 512 seems a bit low for it.

The Creative drivers were uninstalled completely and have run Driver Cleaner. Have reinstalled latest kx drivers too.
Tried the generaluser soundfont you suggested downloading. Still get 'Error loading soundfont'.
And even with the small soundfont I "can" load, what about the lack of midi drums? Midi's will play ok if I select Microsoft GS Wavetable SW synth though.
I've tried the synth compatability settings too and still no luck.
Is there anything else I can try?

Update - Tried the 3537 drivers and had success in loading the generaluser soundfont but still not the large merlin ones. And the midi drums worked. Since going back to 3538j I'm back to square one again. Grr.

A. This is caused by Windows memory management restrictions. Try tweaking the following register keys (for Windows 2000 and Windows XP only):

NonPagedPoolSize
NonPagedPoolQuota

Setting PagedPoolSize to 0xffffffff may solve the issue. Review this link for details.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
I managed to get everything working now by uninstalling Cacheman, which was altering memory management settings. And resetting 'Device settings' within KX got the midi drums working.
Now I can load those 100mb+ soundfonts at last.
