The windows are broken, the walls are thin and and the only heat comes from a cesspit that runs through the basement.
You and I together could save at least 100 children from dying a lonley, cold and sorrowful dead with the enormous heat of this 4870X2.

This past spring, I invested $600 on an Nvidia Geforce 9800GX2 because it seemed to me at the time that ATI's offerings did not measure up. To this day, I rue the hasty decision to turn my back on ATI/AMD. Only a short time after, I learned of the ATI 4870X2 and things have never been the same.

With the release of the 4870X2, I have suffered such shame and buyer's remorse that I can no longer show my face in the local computer store and have been reduced to entering online competitions using pseudonyms. I am so diminished I have begun wandering the computer aisle at WalMart in the hopes of finding redemption.

Were that not enough humiliation and punishment, I find myself impotent and am left too poor from my foray into Nvidia-land to be able to afford Cialis. The looks of disgust from my wife as she is left to seek out another to satisfy her not-insubstantial needs has become simply too much to bear. My children mock me - referring to me under their breath as "noodle nuts" - as they walk out the door to go on outings with Mommy and her new friend, "Uncle Demetrius".

I have become ineffective in my work. My patients have begun offering me counsel, only to conclude that I am beyond help. Colleagues who I have sought out for assistance have offered to put me on a waiting list to see them sometime in 2011.

My dog, Sam, no longer sleeps at my feet, preferring now the cold embrace of our Siamese cat, Frodo.

Please have pity on someone who, like every person who has posted in this thread, has at one time faced the crushing regret and humiliation of purchasing expensive computer hardware only to discover soon after that "something better came out".

For just this once, in the interest of giving hope to everyone who has ever faced this sad eventuality, correct the injustice by granting me this offering. For heaven's sake, think of the children! Give them the chance to learn that their regret at making impulsive decisions can be expunged by the simple act of sounding pathetic and relying on the charity of others.

Thank you for your time and pity, not to mention this chance to redeem myself.

Hey guys.

I just wasted five hours of my time trying to get rid of a virus off of my computer. Nothing bad has really happened to the pc, and I didn't use paypal or anything so no information lost, but I broke my hard drive.

I was taking it out to be wiped at my uncles house where he would format it. But as I was taking it down stairs I tripped on my dogs ball and it flew out my hands. Strangely I thought it was going slow motion and that the Max Payne theme tune was playing.

It hit the ground pretty hard and it made some weird scratchy noises as I picked it up and it sounded like everything inside was cracked. I tried it to be sure and it didn't boot up to windows. Luckily I had an old, but working, 120GB HDD. I put all my backed up stuff onto it (well, most of it anyways). I did lose all my installed games and other stuff, and definently all my essays that I had taken ages to write, but I think it's ok. I'll need to tell my teachers that my hard drive went crazy and they might let me off.

I doubt it, though.

I need this card so badly. Im currently in Year 10 and looking to do Visual Effects and 3d modelling in 3dsmax. Right now im running this sad little Pentium 4 2.6ghz with 512mb ram. To make things worse, my video card is one commonly found in outdated notebooks and has no pixel shaders (its half as good as an Intel Gma 900 which i so badly wish i had). In fact in Quake 3 Arena i get random frame skipping and lag.

The only thing that has stopped my family (which is rather poor) from buying me a pc for my studies and visual work is the expensiveness of the video card which is over half a thousand dollars.

I guess i can do the work on the schools computers, but everyone else will be catching up at home and i feel i will be left behind. Please DriverHeaven, i really need this. I really do.

(This is actually true, but i think you were looking for dramatic responses, so sorry if it doesnt fit in i guess...)

I live in the worlds most expensive country with the highest taxes, we are talking over 50% tax on income and 25% VAT. Plus gasoline prices here in Denmark are more then twice the double of the prices in the states, yeah more then double and let's not forget that prices on our cars are 2-4 higher then many other modern countries.

Now high prices on such things, off course means that prices on computer hardware are crazy high, eg. over 700$ + shipping for a 4700 X2 card and that's even from some lousy webshop.

Now how is a poor chap like me ever going to be able to afford such a lovely card with those prices! I allready work like 60-70 hours a week at the moment, it's getting real hard to even have time for a few hours of gaming in the weekends

I am disabled and do not have the means to purchase a video card like this ever. I do not have anything to sell. if i did i would try to make my family`s life better. My son has had back surgury to help him with bowl and bladder problems and they think that he may need another one if the physical therapy dosent help out.

my name is Gabriel Tirado and not too long ago I lost something important, very important . I've spent most of my summer this year examining the world around me and its importance to my life. I've noticed many things, but the most important aspect of the living world is its seamless beauty and integration amongst the living creatures it inhabits. Trees are beautiful, the sky is beautiful, cracked-out twitching hobos are beautiful. Everything seems to feed me its energy, its life energy.

When I'm not high life seems dull and playing video games on my outdated graphics card is rather depressing. Usually I don't even play games the way they were meant to be played as you see I’m an explorer. I seek artificial beauty on rainy days/cold days/cloudy days/ (almost every day).... life would seem meaningless without the ATI 4870x2.

My friends take their up-to-date graphic cards for granted. Not one of them is capable of cherishing the artificial soul of in-game graphics. Not one of them takes a moment from playing to absorb the artificial love, the things people take for granted... There are times when I question my existence in this world. Getting up in the morning becomes difficult...

Basically what I’m leading up to is that instead of having to rely on drugs to motivate my everyday life outside of my home, I want a reason not to have to leave the house. Why should I? Why shouldn't I be able to open my window and stand next to a tree in-game? Why can't I live in my illusionary world without being brought back to the reality that society has forced upon me?


Save me from the jagged edges & lag of my crappy video card... bring me back man; it’s something I just can't take anymore. Going outside is no longer a viable option considering summer is over. There are too many seasons man, too many seasons in the real world before summer is back. I live for it, so at least help me achieve the beauty of an artificial in-game world where summer lasts forever by giving me the ATI 4870x2.

For the last few months I've been leading a normal life until one day i started feeling this strange pain in my stomach at first i disregarded it and thought that it must have been something i ate but the pain never went away and after a few weeks the pain just became unbearable so i went to a free clinic to get some tests done cause i can't afford going to a private doctor and they couldn't figure out what it was so they took a few samples and told me to come back after a week and so i did and asked them if they had figured out what was wrong with me but no one would give me a straight answer and they told me to wait for the doctor so i did and after about 3 hours of waiting a man in a white coat came up to me and told me that i had a rare disease that is incurable and i only had a few month maybe a year to live at first i was stunned i didn't even wait to ask him anything i just walked away and kept on walking for a few hours aimlessly and then went back home and didn't tell anyone about it, i tried to continue living normally as if nothing had changed but i couldn't as everything had, i got depressed and stopped talking to everyone i knew, after another week i went back to the clinic and asked them about any medication that could at least relieve the pain and they prescribed one to me but it is very expensive and since i decided not to tell my family anything i had to pay for it myself so i had to quit college and get a job and everyday till now my family doesn't know that instead of going to college everyday i go to work to be able to afford the medication, and i had to spend all the money i had saved to buy a computer, and today while looking around on the web i found about your competition and for the first time since i was diagnosed i felt that there is a reason to continue living maybe just maybe if i can win this card i will be able to hang on a bit longer just to have a glimpse of the beautiful graphics that it can produce.
