The test system was built
from scratch, a format of the hard drive was performed
(NTFS) and then Windows XP SP2/Vista was installed.
Following the completion of the installation,
the Nvidia/AMD drivers were installed. All updates
were applied, including .NET Framework 3.0. Next,
the latest builds of the benchmarking tools were
installed and finally, the hard drive was de-fragmented.
For each test, the Nvidia/AMD drivers were set
to default quality/optimizations (unless otherwise
stated).
Good
Benchmarking Practice:
Where possible, each benchmark was performed 3
times and the median result for each resolution/setting
is shown in the tables that will follow. All applications
had their latest patches applied and all hardware
features the latest BIOS/Firmware.
NOTES:
XFX are apparently going to tweak their XXX reference
cards. This will apparently result in a slightly
faster product running at 675MHz Core, 2300MHz
Memory and 1667MHz Shader. If this turns out to
be the case then the card should provide results
which are 2-3fps above those stated today. For
now we have left the card at its current shipping
clocks (650/2160/1620).
